About a week ago, Dave and I met with two Chaplains on Courtney Marine Base. Courtney is about a 40 minute drive with traffic from Foster. The chaplains were so encouraging about us coming. They shared how the families out on Courtney often feel left out of the loop in a very Foster Center world (Foster is the largest Marine base on island).
Several days ago David and I went up to Courtney and spent the evening exploring the base and praying. We spent some time at their skate park. They have a really nice skate park with lots of grass around it. It will be a perfect place for a BBQ! Will you pray with us for these students on Courtney? Will you pray for God given divine appointments with students and families?

Okinawa Spiders

The other day, we went hiking with some friends. We hiked about 45 minutes into the jungle to Hiji Falls. We didn't have a lot of time to get to Hiji and back out before the trail closed but we did it and saw some interesting things on the way.
The spider was just off the path. I jumped when I saw it. I was just glad it was a smaller one.
It was very humid and by the time we got to the falls we were all soaked in sweat. But we had been told many, many times not to go in the water by many Americans. Apparently the water has parasites in it. But when we arrived there was an entire Japanese family swimming in the water. I guess they must be immune. None of us wanted to risk it. We had heard too many horror stories of how sick you get. It did look refreshing though!

Our Welcome Home Greeting!
Co Co Curry... 10 please!

The other day after Dave join some guys spear fishing off of the sea wall near our house we all headed to a local food chain, Co Co Curry's for dinner. Their curry spicy level goes from 0 to 10! 10 is the most spicy! About 4 of the guys, and 1 girl decided to try it. No joke some of the guys had tears in their eyes. Dave chowed it down pretty fast and the girl didn't even flinch! Way to go Alex!

You just have to laugh...
Dave and I went to the post office to pick up our mail the morning after flying in. We thought we would pick up all the mail that had been collected over the month while I was gone. To our complete surprise there was almost 30 boxes waiting for us. Almost all of them were wedding gifts. All of the boxes seemed in pretty good shape except for one. I think it was the only box that had FRAGILE written on it. And it looked like a truck had run over it. I just don't understand how all the other boxes where fine but the poor "fragile" box got trampled! Good thing we can get it exchanged for free!

It's been a while!
Well, it has been over a month since I have written anything. But I think most of you understand why. =) It's been a little busy in my life. Right after the Rampage trip I flew back to Colorado for my wedding. It all feels a bit of a blur now, especially since we have been back in Japan for over a week now. We are busy these days unpacking boxes and setting up our apt! Fun Fun!
